BAM kicks off the summer with it's Free Lunch Time Concert

Hey Brooklyn, let hear it for Brooklyn Academy of Music(BAM), 2013 R&B Festival at Metro Tech.

Brooklyn Academy of Music(BAM) kicks off the summer with it's Free Lunch Time Concert Series, at Metro Tech Commons at Downtown Brooklyn.

Now in it's 19th year, BAM's R&B Festival at Metro Tech features R&B legends and emerging musicians. 10 FREE outdoor concert during the summer.

The outside summer series features an electric roster of legendary trail blazer and emerging musical visionaries of R&B and world music.

This year's BAM R&B festival is part of the Inaugural Summer long festival presented by Forest City Ratner that will fill Metro Tech Common with cultural, Sports and Innovation.

The Free lunch time performances will be held Thursday at noon (except for a Wednesday, July 3 Avery *Sunshine concert at Metro Tech Commons, located at the corner of Flatbush & Myrtle Ave.                                  Rain or Shine

But, let me give you a little history about BAM. Brooklyn Academy of Music performed it's first performance in 1861 and began operation in it's present location in 1908.

Today, BAM has a world wide reputation as a leader in artistic innovation and has grown into model urban art center focused on both International issues in the arts and local community needs.  It's enduring purpose is to provide a distinctive environment in which ot's audience annually, morethan 550,000 people from New York City and beyond-may experience a broad array of aesthetic and cultural programs.

  2. June 20: Kaleta & Zozo Afrobeat
  3. June 27: Stooges Brass Band
  4. July 3:  Avery *Sunshine
  5. July 11: Sly & Robbie
  6. July 18: Fatoumata Diawara
  7. July 25: Bombino
  8. August 1 Sheila E
  9. August 8: Shuggie Otis
