The West Indian American Day Carnival

Brooklyn, The 46th annual West Indian Day Parade/Carnival is right here.

With the Afro Punk Festival, Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, Celebrate Brooklyn and VMA's at the Barclay done, we now celebrate the end of the summer with The 46th Annual West Indian Parade and yes the summer is officially over after this great festivity.

The 46th annual West Indian Parade, where you will find Caribbean Music, Food and beautiful customs. Ranging  from backyards fetes, to three day of Caribbean fever concerts series at the famous Barclay.

The Caribbean Day Carnival Day Parade will be held Sept 2, 2013 from 11 am-6 pm. The parade will be held at Eastern Parkway, from Utica to Flatbush Ave.

All pre-parade shows will be held on the grounds of The Brooklyn Museum.
Thurs, Aug 29-Caribbean Woodstock: World Musical Festival boasts Caribbean entertainers in a wonderful mix of customs, competition, steel pans and musicians performing Zouk, Latin, Hip Hop, Kompa, Soca, and Reggae.

Fri, Aug 30-Stay in school youth fest: WIADCA presents this performance opportunity to encourage youth to pursue education and develop talent.

Sat, Aug 31-The Junior Carnival Parade & Competition: Children and family enjoy music and jump-up while competing in their own custom parade.

Sat, Aug 31-Panorama steel band competition: A night of pan. This year for the pan lovers, special appearance by New York University's NYU steel.

Sun, Sept 1-Dimmanche Gras: An encore presentation featuring panorama and King & Queen custom winners, and live performance by King David Rudder singing Hammer and more.

The junior carnival parade and competition features young children in customs, that goes on Aug 31, from Kingston Ave an St. Johns Place at 8 am.

I had the opportunity to attend this Marvelous Parade and talk about festive and colorful. From the good smelling of Caribbean food, great and live music, great people and those marvelous customs, Big, Shiny and colorful. This is the end of the summer event and it's big, delicious and festive.
