Pitkin Avenue Parade and Easter Hunt

You know, Brownsville is not given the proper attention to when it comes to positive images and doings. A lot of violence growing in these neck of the woods.

Brownsville is located in eastern Brooklyn, New York City. It has been known through out the years for it's criminal gangs in the 30's and 40's achieved  notoriety as the birthplace of Murder Inc.

As early as the 1910's, the area had acquired a reputation as a vicious slum and breeding ground for crime.. Ain't that some sugar.

Brownsville is notable for having some of the highest rates of violent crime in New York City. Gang and Drug Violence.

This is home to me. From the time I was born to present. We have positive things going on and positive people.

On Saturday March 30 2013,

Had  their Pitkin Ave Parade and Easter Egg Hunt.

The Easter Parade started from the Zion Triangle which is located at Pitkin Ave and Legion, with antique cars.

They parade straight down Pitkin Ave and made a right on Thomas Boyland straight to Betsy Head Park.

There, they were greeted by a DJ, among other things,

Also there Carmen Jackson the widow of Gregory (Greg) Jackson who won a collegiate national championship at Guilford College and later played in the National Basketball Association. Mr. Jackson consider to  many as the official  Mayor of Brownsville.

The children laughed and play, while others danced, I know I did and even did the Harlem shake. The weather was fantastic . This is one of many positive things going on in  Brownsville, Brooklyn  and more.
