Welcome to Brooklyn, Barclay

Welcome to Brooklyn, County of Kings, Bucktown U.S.A.; home to almost three million and now home to one of the few arenas in New York City, Barclays Center.   Located on the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, and across the street from Atlantic Mall and over one of Brooklyn’s biggest train stations, Barclays Center is now the crown jewel of Brooklyn.  Owned by Forest City Enterprises and ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, construction started in 2010 and the center was opened to the public for the first event on September 28, 2012, the sold-out eight-show, Live in Brooklyn: Barclays Center Opening Jay-Z Concert.  38,000 square feet are covered in pre-weathered steel to give it that authentic Brooklyn Brownstone look.
After losing the Dodgers in 1957, it was agreed that Brooklyn would once again have its own team, the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center would be their new home.  With the NBA season soon starting, the arena will be home to some of the biggest events this year from WWE Wrestling to Golden Boy Productions boxing.  The Nets will be followed by the NHL’s Islanders who have inked a 25 year deal to relocate from Long Island to Barclays Center in 2015.  Also, there will be big name concerts with Jay-Z starting it off and others such as Green Day, Barbara Streisand, Lady Gaga and Rihanna to follow in the near future.
Barclays Center is definitely the comeback Brooklyn needed to have a fresh start.  Being home to many notable celebrities and athletes, Brooklyn is now also home to the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center.
