You cannot talk about BB King Blues without talking about the man himself

B.B King as he was known, was born on Sept. 16, 1925 to Albert King and Nora Ella Farr.  King was born in Berclair, Mississippi on a cotton plantation.  King was raised by his maternal grandmother after King's father abandoned his family.  King's mother was to poor to raise him.

King grew up singing in the Gospel Choir at Elkhorn Baptist Church.  At the age of 12 King got his first guitar. 

In 1946, King left home, however shortly returned to Mississippi.  King returned  back to West Memphis in 1946, where he performed on Sonny Boy Williamson's radio program on KWEM.

King appearance led to steady engagements at the Sixteen Ave Grill in West Memphis radio station WDIA.

Mr. King began recording songs in 1949, under contact with Los-Angeles based RPM Records.

In 1949 King played at a Dance Hall in Twist, Arkansas. 1949 was the year for Mr. King with 342 concerts booked.  On that same year he founded his own record label, Blues Boys Kingdom.

King's hits includes: 3 O'clock Blues, You Know I Love You, Woke Up this Morning among many more.

B.B King is a songwriter, Vocalist and Famed Blues Guitarist.  Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him at #6 on it's list of 100 GREATEST Guitarist of all time.  He was ranked #17 in Gibson's top 50 Guitarists of all time. In 1987 King was inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".  He was often called "The King of Blues" because he is consider one of the MOST influential Blues Musician of all time.

King appeared at 250-300 concerts per year and still at the age of 87 King appears at 100 shows a year. 

Mr. King has become a role model for thousands of players, from Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Jeff Beck. 

In King's words "When I sin, I play in my mind; The minute I stop singing orally, I start to sing by playing Lucille".

• In 1997, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Music by Yale University
• In 1980 and 1987 he was awarded into the Blues Hall of Fame.
• In 1990 was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
•  In 1995 was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors among other Awards and Honors                                                                         

Mr. King has won 15 Grammy Awards and was given a Grammy Life Time Achievement Award in 1987. A Grammy Hall of Fame Award was given to "The Thrill is Gone" in 1988.  This Award is given to recording that are at least 25 yrs old and that have qualitative or Historical Significance.  

In 1991, Mr. King opened up his first B.B King Blues on Beale Street in Memphis.

•  In 1994 a second club was opened at University City Walk in Los Angeles.
•  In 2002 a third Club was open in New York City Times Square.
•  In 2002 B.B King Blues opened up at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut and another one 2003 in Nashville.

• 2009 Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas and in Orlando on International Drive.  

B.B King is a place to catch a throw back favorite or a quality Tribute Act. The Venue is small enough that most of the seats are really good, which allows you to mingle with other people. The place is setup in a Jazz Club Setting, which i love.  For a split second you forget that you're in Times Square.  We were greeted enthusiastically.  Which is the best indictor of how service is going to be for the rest of the night.  It sets the tone.  The food and drinks, I beleive was reasonable.  The place is broken up into 2 clubs.  BB King's proper, which is "Main Floor" and "Lucille Lounge", which is more of a Blues Lounge.  I had the pleasure of going to see Lyfe Jennings in "Lyfe Jennings comes home to BB King". The show was awesome and looking forward to going back.
